Giving children the care they deserve. Connecticut
Children's is the region's only academic medical center
dedicated exclusively to the care of children. Here,
children from infants to adolescents receive the highly
specialized medical and surgical services that define
Connecticut Children's. From neurosurgery, to
oncology, to orthopaedics, and everything in between, our
talented pediatric subspecialists treat even the most
complex problems in a state-of-the-art facility that is
designed especially for kids. By conducting independent
research and seeking out the latest technologies and
procedures, we are able to make kids better, faster.
Connecticut Children's-Waterbury opened
Monday, Jan. 5, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting that included
(from left):
Martin J. Gavin, president and chief
executive officer, Connecticut Children's; Hartford Archbishop
The Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell and Chad W. Wable, president and chief executive officer, Saint Mary's Health System.
Nylisha Rivera Rodriguez, 7, of Waterbury, was the first child
to be admitted to Connecticut Children's-Waterbury shortly after the
unit opened on Jan. 5. Nylisha, who is shown with her nurse
Kristie Holderbach, RN, was able to choose which room she
wanted and decided on "the room with the orange walls."
