Health in The News - Latest Health News

Among the patients who are being seen for chest Pain, the probability of the chest pain being linked to blocked or obstructed Arteries is greater if the patient has low bone mineral density compared to the patients with the same chest pain presenting with normal levels of bone mineral density.

In a study of nearly 200 patients, bone scan results determined that there is clearly a link between the bone mineral density and coronary heart disease. The reson for the link is unknown, but thanks to these results, researchers will examine the link further in hopes of preventing the heart disease from ever occurring.

Of the nearly 200 patients, 76% with osteoporosis presented with coronary heart disease, 68% with Osteopenia (a lesser forrm of osteoporosis) presented with coronary heart disease and 47% of patients with a normal bone mineral density level were positive for coronary heart disease.
