Improving Your Health Requires an Educated Patient. PDF Print E-mail
Articles by Norman Traverse MD - Editor

The educated patient is a key part of a team that includes their caregivers and family members. Studies have shown that as many as 59% of patients do not follow their prescribed treatment and roughly 75% of patients fail to take their medications as prescribed by their physician. Educated patients are much more likely to follow instructions when they had better understanding of the reasons for the treatment. Many get their instructions and education from their physicians, but a large number of patients (up to 80%) rely on the internet to find more information about their medical conditions and concerns.

The internet is one of the most useful reference tools of our generation. The secret of its success is vastness of information available. Unfortunately, there are many websites offering incorrect or misleading data. Some internet sites are not updated and offer old material that does not reflect improved health treatments. It is often difficult and time consuming for patients to sift through all of this and find authenticated and reliable health information for their use.

After much research on how to deliver effective health information, I came up with the idea of using an internet health portal dedicated to patients, their families and caregivers. A web portal is a gateway that functions as point of access to information on the World Wide Web. Portals present information from many selected and accredited websites. I am proud to offer www.HealthMadeEasy.com to the web community. HealthMadeEasy.com is a health portal that enables the user to get accredited health information.

HealthMadeeasy.com has a dedicated team of health professionals to search out the best information from accredited health and medical websites. The site is updated daily and all content is reviewed by our editorial board personally before being published for the public. Our featured “Health in The News” articles and “Articles of The Week” cover the most recent and significant news. Only the best sites and current health information is chosen by our board of editors.

HealthMadeEasy.com has received international recognition by the “Health on the Net Foundation” (HON) as an outstanding website for useful and reliable health information. HON is accredited to the Economic and Social Council of The United Nations.

Wishing you the best of good health,
