By: Bryan Miller

Here are a few little eating disorder treatment tips that I scrounged up out of some old dusty books of mine. Keep them close to you at all times. Eating disorders are just like any addiction, it’s a struggle to keep them at bay, but struggles can be won if you truly want to win.Tip 1:

If you want to take steps to overcoming your eating disorder, try not to restrict your servings to below the numbers in each servings on the new Food Guide Pyramid. They give you a new # - # system (the #’s are digits). This is dependant on your physical, or sports goals. Make sure you try and eat for health, not for physique.

You can overcome your eating disorder. It’s a matter of taking steps into the right direction. Make sure you keep looking back here for more tips.

Tip 2:
Tip 2 consists of pretty much any dietary means of staying healthy, but can be placed in your life to overcome eating disorders. Eat often. You can include healthy snacks between meals. If you have trouble with binging and purging because you get too hungry in between meals, this is a very potent method of getting over that Anxiety of eating too much.

Eating like this also makes your Metabolism higher. So you do not have to worry about gaining any weight. If you eat a small carrot, or something light on calories, yet high in nutrients, you can definitely overcome your eating disorder because you’re not gaining weight, and you’re still feeding your body what it needs.

Tip 3:

It’s important to establish a healthy weight according to your height.

You can find a chart by searching for “BMI Chart” in your Google Search Bar. Make sure your goals are dictated by your health means, and not out of fear of losing, or gaining weight.

Tip 4:
Make sure you don’t try and rush your body along, trying to achieve whatever weight goal it is that you’re attempting to get to. Trying to lose too much fat too fast can lead to anxiety, and if you begin to feel yourself slipping into the habit of restricting yourself, make sure you keep a cool head, and realizing that a healthy rate of fat loss is about 10% loss in body weight for 6 months.

The accomplishment of removing your eating disorder is much more gratifying than losing weight extremely quickly. Keep in sight that healthy goal.

Tip 5:

Lastly, it’s extremely important that you establish yourself a very solid support system of friends, doctors, and those who can keep you accountable for your eating disorder. This is extremely important because it also keeps you observant of those who care about your wellbeing other than your appearance. This is a very important step to getting over your eating disorder.

If you keep these 5 tips in the back of your mind at all times, you may see a quicker, more healthy recovery with greater results.
