A public announcement was made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)warning parents of the possible fatal side effects related to children under the age of 6. In an effort to ensure public awareness of the dangers of cold medications for toddlers, the FDA has removed all toddler aimed cold medications from the shelves. Warnings such as these often go unheard or unnoticed and parents who have the toddler aimed cold medications already at home, continue to give them to their children. The scientific advisors at the FDA are claiming these medications are not only dangerous for toddlers, but ineffective, as well. Further testing and research is still underway to determine whether or not the cold medications remaining on the shelves are suitable for older children.
